Chip Kelly and the Eagles sharp in victory over Redskins

The Philadelphia Eagles new 2013 Chip Kelly offense might end up putting them in the playoffs. The Eagles defeated the division champion Redskins 33-27. In the first half the Eagles ran 53 offensive plays and scored 26 points. The score could have been 40 to 20, but the officials did not make a very good call on the Eagles' first drive. Michael Vick made a pass that was knocked down and picked up by the Redskins. It was ruled a lateral pass.

LeSean 'Shady' McCoy and DeSean Jackson combined for 293 all purpose yards and a couple of touchdowns in the win.

NFL Sunday Week 1 Recap

The first Sunday in this 2013 NFL season is complete. There were a lot of surprises, to me at least. The Falcons lost to the Saints. The Jets beat the Bucs. New England barely took down Buffalo.

Here are my interesting stat-lines for Week 1 so far:

• Blaine Gabbert got shut down, going just 16 for 35 with only 121 passing yards and no touchdowns and a couple of interceptions.
• Eli Manning threw for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns, but had 3 interceptions in the Giants loss to Dallas.
• Cam Newton had just 125 passing yards in his season debut against Seattle. Russell Wilson looked sharp.

The 2014 MLB season will begin in Sydney, Australia. Not exactly the best place for baseball, but interesting nonetheless. The Dodgers and D-backs will play their opening series there March 22-23.
